Welcome back! It’s always a pleasure to have you here. I’ll do my best not to overwhelm you with too many words this time and to cover the topic in significant detail. One crucial virtue you must cultivate as someone seeking to make money online is patience. You need to control the urge for quick money. If you can master this, you will be less likely to fall victim to scammers. These individuals are highly perceptive; they can sense desperation and often target those who seem eager for fast cash. Remember, making money online requires a due process.
There are certain categories of people for whom this journey may not be suitable. Firstly, if you don’t believe that it’s possible to make money online, this may not be for you. Ironically, many, including myself, initially doubted the feasibility of earning online until we gave it a try. I failed in my first attempt, you can read about it here, but I refused to be discouraged, especially since I had no one to turn to for help.
I had to keep trying because the jobs I was doing couldn’t cover my financial needs, and I had many responsibilities waiting for attention. This leads me to the second category of people: if you’re easily discouraged, making money online may not be for you. There will be times when it feels like the market isn’t moving in your favor. Just like selling physical goods, sometimes you’ll experience a surge of customers, while at other times, you may see none. Don’t give up; perseverance will pay off.
If you’re searching for a get-rich-quick scheme, I urge you to change that mindset. Desperation can lead to poor decisions, and many who chase quick money often fall prey to scams. This is particularly true in a country like Nigeria, where prices rise rapidly and bills accumulate. For instance, someone earning the minimum wage of ₦70,000 might spend ₦2,000 or even more on transportation every day. Let’s assume they’re single and spend ₦20,000 on food monthly. They also have to consider house rent, electricity, water bills, and more. If they’re married with a child, the financial strain intensifies. It’s frustrating to see how little support is provided to the struggling masses, while those in power remain indifferent.
Now, before I get sidetracked by any political issues, let’s focus on the opportunities available to help you improve your financial situation. Below, I’ve listed some online skills you can leverage:
- Affiliate Marketing
- Online Surveys
- Graphic Designing
- Content Creation
- Freelancing
- Copywriting
- Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing)
- Online Teaching/Tutoring

Note that these are just a few opportunities that came to mind as I wrote this post. There are many more, and I’ll discuss them in detail over time, starting with affiliate marketing.
